FORM TO ADOPT

FILLING OUT THE APPLICATION FORM IS NOT THE ENTIRE APPLICATION PROCESS!

We receive multiple applications for our animals. To be considered for adoption, you MUST complete ALL of the steps below.

STEP 1 — CHECK AVAILABILITY

Before applying, message us to confirm the dog or cat you're interested in is still available.

We select homes based on the best match for each animal, not simply who applies first.

STEP 2 — COMPLETE THE APPLICATION FORM

Fill out the one-page application form below.

⚠️ DO NOT STOP HERE! YOU ARE NOT FINISHED!

STEP 3 — PAY YOUR $25 APPLICATION FEE

The $25 application fee is non-refundable and only needs to be paid once.

If your first-choice animal is no longer available, your application fee can be applied toward another available dog or cat.

STEP 4 — YOU MUST MESSAGE US AFTER APPLYING!

Once you submit your application, you MUST contact us directly.

WE DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY CONTACT APPLICANTS AFTER THEY SUBMIT A FORM.

If you do not reach out, your application remains incomplete.

STEP 5 — SEND YOUR PHOTOS AND INFORMATION

When you message us, please include:

  • Photos of your home (inside and outside)

  • Photos of your family and current pets

  • Veterinary records for current or previous pets

  • Information about your household and lifestyle

  • Why you want to adopt this particular animal and why you believe they're a good match

Additional information may be requested during the adoption process.

We carefully review applicants to find the best match for every animal in our care.

Interstate K9 (“INTERSTATE”) and the undersigned adopter....

...in consideration of the mutual promises made in this Agreement and other good and valuable considerations, intending to be legally bound by this Agreement, agree to the following:

Before signing, please understand the following:

📌 Heartworm Prevention Agreement

You agree to:

  • Keep the adopted dog on heartworm prevention for the first year, then retest.

  • Understand that despite testing or treatment, no guarantee can be made regarding heartworm status due to incubation time.

  • Texas adopters must keep the dog on prevention for life.

📌Health & Liability Waiver

You understand and agree that:

  • The rescue makes no guarantees regarding the animal’s health, medical condition, behavior, or temperament once the animal is in your care for years to come. (medical condition example - genetic abnormalities, behavior and temperament example - changing in behavior or temperament after the dog has been with you a while, usually due to lack of training, or social skills.)

  • The rescue is not responsible or liable for any injury, illness, damage, expense, loss, or other issue that occurs after the animal is placed in your care.

  • By accepting the animal, you agree to assume responsibility for the animal and its care.

🚫 IMPORTANT: Skipping any required step or failing to provide requested information means your application will not be considered.

This agreement shall be governed by the laws of the State of Texas, and venue shall lie exclusively in Texas.
