🐾 How to Apply to Adopt

To adopt one of our animals, please follow these steps carefully:

  1. Fill out the form below. This 1 page form is the only form you will fill out. We like to continue the adoption process through chit chatting via Facebook messenger or in email. 
    Make sure the animal you want is still available.— applying without confirmation (that the animal is still available) is at your own risk. But don't worry, there are so many more needing homes, and the app fee carries!

  2. Pay the $25 application fee. (just once, if you happen to get a pop up to pay again)
    This fee is non-refundable, as are all deposits or adoption fees.

  3. Contact us after applying!
    You must contact us right away to complete your application to send the extra requirements:

We won’t chase you down — if you don’t reach out, your application stays incomplete!

  1. Submit any required info and photos mentioned to us via Facebook messenger or email.

...in consideration of the mutual promises made in this Agreement and other good and valuable considerations, intending to be legally bound by this Agreement, agree to the following:

​THE PET – INTERSTATE is placing the following described pet with ADOPTER for adoption as a recreational pet:

🚨 STOP AND READ THIS BEFORE SIGNING! 🚨

To adopt, you MUST complete ALL 5 steps below.
Applications that skip any step will be ignored.

✅ STEP 1: FILL OUT THE APPLICATION FORM

This starts the process — but does not complete your application.

✅ STEP 2: PAY THE $25 APPLICATION FEE

  • This fee is required to process your application. *ONLY pay once*

  • All fees are NON-REFUNDABLE (application, deposit, adoption).

✅ STEP 3: CONTACT US IMMEDIATELY AFTER APPLYING

You MUST message us to move forward.

  • 💬 Preferred: Facebook Messenger

  • 📧 Email only if you don’t have Facebook: interstatek9tx@gmail.com

  • Our fastest communication method is Facebook.
    We will NOT follow up unless you contact us!

✅ STEP 4: SHARE YOUR LIFE WITH US 

To complete your application, you MUST send the following via FB MESSENGER / EMAIL (if you don't do FB)

  • 📸 Photos of your home (inside & outside), photos of your family (animals included)

  • 👨‍👩‍👧 Details: Names and ages of all household members

  • 🐾 Vet records of your current pets (must be official vet records - you can screen shot, or take pictures of records you have on hand and send or just forward them to our email interstatek9tx@gmail.com)

  • ✍️ A short explanation of why you're a good match for this animal so we can make sure y'all are good for each other

Your application is NOT complete until all of this is received.

✅ STEP 5: READ THE CONTRACT CAREFULLY

Before signing, please understand the following:

📌 Heartworm Prevention Agreement

You agree to:

  • Keep the adopted dog on heartworm prevention for the first year, then retest.

  • Understand that despite testing or treatment, no guarantee can be made regarding heartworm status due to incubation time.

  • Texas adopters must keep the dog on prevention for life.

📌 Health & Liability Waiver

You agree that:

  • The rescue makes no guarantees about the animal's condition, health, or temperament.

  • The rescue is not liable for any injury, damage, or loss once the pet is in your care.

🚫 Skipping any of these steps means your application will not be considered.
